Farmington Flag Football Fight To Help Bristol Officers' Families
The benefit game is Saturday at Farmington High School between police and firefighters.

FARMINGTON, CT — Farmington's "bravest" will tackle Farmington's "finest" (though, not literally) in a special flag football game that will raise funds for the families impacted by the horrible tragedy in Bristol last month.
On Saturday, Nov. 5, the Farmington Fire Department will play the Farmington Police Department in a special fundraising flag football contest at Farmington High School, 1o Monteith Drive, to raise money for the families of the Bristol police officers killed and wounded in an ambush Oct. 12.
The gates open at 5 p.m. for the 6:30 p.m. game at the school's turf field, with food trucks and pregame activities scheduled for the family to enjoy.

Because of this, event organizers are asking folks to arrive early.
There is a $10 per person donation suggested for the cause, with all proceeds benefitting the families of Bristol police officers Lt. Dustin DeMonte, Sgt. Alex Hamzy and Officer Alec Iurato.

DeMonte and Hamzy both were killed in the shooting, while Iurato, who shot and killed the suspect, was wounded in the leg and is making a recovery.
Organizers of the emergency responder showdown said this event "can only be described as the greatest flag football battle of all time."
But they did issue a warning to attendees.
"The 'greatest' battle may or may not just be a bunch of cops and firefighters doing their best not to fall down and rip their pants," reads a social media post promoting the benefit game.
The hope is no one will get hurt and lots of money will be raised for the cause.
