Farmington Public Works To Accept Old Motor Oil Again
The program starts Monday and is for residents and/or property owners of Farmington.
FARMINGTON, CT — Starting Monday, Farmington's highway department will, again, be accepting used motor oil at its waste collection facility.
According to department officials, used motor oil will only be accepted from Farmington and Unionville (a village in Farmington) residents.
The drop-off location will be at Farmington Highway & Grounds, located at 544 New Britain Ave., Unionville.

In order to properly dispose of used oil, residents must go to the highway office to show a photo ID first.
Those who own property in Farmington but do not have a Farmington address on their ID should bring a copy of their tax bill.

Hours of drop off will be: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon (no holidays).
Motor oil must be dropped off in a sealed container no larger than 5 gallons.
"We cannot empty your containers, so please be sure to bring your used motor oil in a container that can be left," wrote the town.
Any motor oil left without prior approval from the highway office will be considered illegal dumping and subject to fines.
Cameras have been installed in various locations.
