Farmington PZC OKs Land Trust Signage

The trails at Farmington Land Trust locations in town will feature new signs marking the features of several properties.

FARMINGTON, CT — It will be a lot harder to get lost while enjoying the passive recreation opportunities on Farmington Land Trust sites.

That's because the Farmington Plan and Zoning Commission has approved the trust's plans for new signage at property trails directing hikers and bicyclists where to go.

According to the minutes of the July 25 PZC meeting, trust representative Peter Dorpalen made the pitch before members and the proposal was unanimously approved.

According to the Farmington Land Trust's website, the nonprofit organization's goal is to purchase and protect diverse habitats in town and keep them as open space forever.

Currently, it preserves about 300 acres in town over 67 total parcels, according to the trust's website.

As a result of the trust's efforts, area residents can enjoy scenic, relaxing hikes of varying degrees in Farmington, with the signs expected to better lable the offerings trust properties provide.
