Their parents had been friends for years and Jeanne’s mother encouraged her to go out with Matt.
Jeanne was hesitant at first, but eventually, she said, “I pretty much had to go out with him. Then, he grew on me.”
The couple got married when Jeanne was 24, and they later welcomed three children: Barbara, Susan and Matthew.
For a number of years, Jeanne was a stay-at-home mother, but as her children got older she went back to work part-time at the Board of Continuing Education in Stamford.
She also worked as an assistant at a doctor’s office for 10 years.
After Jeanne moved to Farmington Station, she found the assisted living community had much to offer, keeping her busy with a variety of activities and programs.
Jeanne also loves spending time with her children, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
As Jeanne reflected on the new stage of life she has entered, she admitted she never dreamed she would turn 100.
Although she acknowledged her later years have brought on some limitations in life, she is grateful for the loving memories that have made their mark on her life.
When prompted to reveal her secret for living such a remarkable life, Jeanne simply stated, “living day by day.”
Jeanne’s achievements are a true testament to living a life of love, forming strong relationships, and making meaningful connections with those around her.
