Farmington Roadway To Close For 2 Days For Roadwork

FARMINGTON, CT — Drivers in Farmington should plan for a two-day road closure this week as crews conduct pavement work on Highwood Road.

Highwood Road will be closed to through traffic Thursday, Sept. 3, and Friday, Sept. 4, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day for milling, according to the Town of Farmington.

Drivers are being asked to seek alternate routes while the work is underway.

Road milling involves removing a specified depth of the existing asphalt surface using specialized equipment.

The process is typically performed in preparation for resurfacing and can address deteriorated pavement while maintaining appropriate roadway elevations near curbs and drainage structures.

Milling can also help correct surface problems such as cracks, ruts, and uneven pavement. Material removed during the process can be recycled for use in asphalt production.

The town did not announce any additional closures associated with the work.
