Farmington Runs the Table in Class LL Soccer Tournament
The Indians shut out every opponent in the tournament, including a 3-0 win over Shelton in the finals Saturday.

NEW BRITAIN, CT — A pair of early goals by Blake Rutenberg and stifling defense throughout the game lifted Farmington High School to a 3-0 victory in the championship game of the Class LL boys soccer tournament Saturday at Willow Brook Park.
Rutenberg caromed a shot off the right post and over the goal line just over 15 minutes into the contest, then took a dazzling pass from Alec Maccarone and found the net less than three minutes later.
"Scoring that first goal is always huge," Indian head coach Steve Waters said. "We knew we could get inside them."

Farmington breezed through the tournament without allowing a goal in five games, shutting out Amity, Darien, Staples and Fairfield Prep prior to the finals.
Shelton had lost its semifinal matchup to Danbury Tuesday night, but the CIAC determined Danbury had used an ineligible player and disqualified the Hatters Friday morning. By rule, Shelton was given the spot in the championship match.
