Farmington School Official Says Bus Driver Facing DWI Charge Has Been Fired

Farmington school superintendent reportedly told parents the school bus driver accused of driving drunk with students aboard has been fired.

The school bus driver accused of driving drunk — with a blood alcohol limit three times above the legal limit — with 20 Farmington middle school students aboard her bus in August, has reportedly been fired by the bus company.

According to WFSB, Farmington School Superintendent Kathleen Greider has told parents that the driver has been fired by M&J Bus Inc. Tammy Costello, 44, of Bristol, is no longer employed by the company, following her Aug. 27 arrest.

Costello is accused of swerving and striking curb ways along the route to Irving Robbins Middle School on Wolf Pit Road. A Farmington Police officer witnessed part of the erratic driving and arrested Costello after she arrived at the school.

Greider also said that the bus company has improved procedures for drivers checking in before taking buses out on the road.
