Farmington Seeks to End 40-Year Baseball Drought

FARMINGTON, CT — The last time Farmington High School won a state baseball championship, Jimmy Carter was president, "Grease" was the new box office smash and Bucky Dent's pop fly landed in a net and shattered the dreams of Red Sox fans throughout New England.

The Indians seek to win it all for the first time since 1978, as pairings were announced Friday. However, they have a slightly longer road to haul than most other teams, hosting a Class LL qualifying game against 34th-seeded Stamford on Saturday. Farmington is the No. 31 seed.

Top seeds in the four divisions are Fairfield Prep (LL), Windsor (L), Haddam-Killingworth (M) and Shepaug Valley (S).
