Farmington Stores Cited for Selling Tobacco to Minor
A recent compliance check of 23 businesses yielded several which sold tobacco products to a teenager.

FARMINGTON, CT — A recent compliance check of Farmington businesses which sell tobacco products resulted in the issuance of infractions to six store clerks.
On Friday, Sept. 22, the Farmington Police Department in conjunction with the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services conducted a random check of 23 local businesses who sell tobacco products. The purpose of the check was to ensure the businesses were not selling the tobacco products to minors under the age of 18. A 17-year-old decoy was used, Lt. Patrick Buckley said.
Of the 23 businesses checked, six establishments sold tobacco products to the decoy. The clerks were issued infractions for sale of tobacco to a minor, Buckley said.
