Farmington Swimmer Excels at Class L Championships

The Indians had a two-time individual champion at Friday's state championship meet at Wesleyan University.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A close battle between two of the most honored swimming programs in Connecticut took place Monday afternoon at the Wesleyan University pool.

New Canaan, which broke Pomperaug's eight-year hold on the Class L team title in 2016, repeated the feat Monday, compiling 840.5 points to capture the championship. Pomperaug was second with 806 points, while Darien wound up a distant third with 529.

New Canaan has 11 class championships and a State Open crown, while Pomperaug boasts 16 class titles and a pair of State Opens.

Josh Wroblewski of Farmington was a two-time individual event champion.
