Farmington Teen Killed In Route 6 Crash

He was the sole occupant and operator of a vehicle involved in a multi-vehicle crash that also involved a 21-year-old motorist.

FARMINGTON, CT — A Farmington teen was killed in a two-vehicle accident Saturday night, police reported Sunday afternoon.

According to a local police department social media post, the crash claimed the life of 17-year-old Farmington resident Luke Roux and injured 21-year-old Farmington resident Jacob Coffey.

Police said the accident happened at 8:37 p.m. Saturday night on Route 6 at Fienemann Road, which was closed for several hours as police investigated the crash.

Both Roux and Coffey were identified as the "operators" and "sole occupants" of their respective vehicles in the accident.

The two were transported to John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, with Roux succumbing to his injuries and pronounced dead a "short time later," police said in a statement.

The North Central Accident Reconstruction Team was called in to assist local police in the investigation.

Meanwhile, police said a notice has gone out to the Farmington school community notifying people of the fatality, including information about counselor services available for students and families.

Fox 61 TV shared a copy of the letter from the school system. In the letter, it states that they're sharing this news "with overwhelming grief" that Roux, a recent graduate, died in the crash. He planned to attend the University of Connecticut in the fall.

"His kind and gentle personality throughout school, his perseverance and work ethic on and off the baseball diamond and hockey rink and his outstanding academic achievements will be remembered by the Farmington Public Schools’ student body, faculty, staff and administration," the letter states, according to Fox 61.
