The Board of Education budget request was reduced by about $320,000, which still represents a 3.7 percent increase from the previous year.

Council members Jeffrey Apuzzo and Jon Landry voted against the budget. Apuzzo said the increase for the Board of Education was excessive and cited declining enrollment figures.
