Farmington Town Manager, Town Clerk Get Pay Bumps

FARMINGTON, CT — Two prominent Town of Farmington employees earned pay increases and/or a bonus following a recent special Farmington Town Council meeting.

The council voted unanimously to give Farmington Town Clerk Maureen Frink a pay raise for a $94,912 salary (up from $90,341).

Also that same night, the council voted unanimously to give Farmington Town Manager Kathleen A. Blonski a pay raise to $199,767 (up from $193,949) as well as a lump sum, $10,000 bonus.

The bonus, according to the motion by the council, was for "her exceptional performance and exceeding her goals and objectives this year."

The council vote came after a special meeting on June 25 that was mostly conducted in executive session as the town's top elected body discussed personnel issues, which is allowed under state law.

The votes to grant the raises, however, were both made in open session.

Because much of the nearly four-hour meeting was in executive session, the video of the meeting online is only about 3 minutes long, representing business done in open session.

Both pay increases were approved with no open discussion by council members as was Blonski's $10,000 bonus.

"Thank you very much for your work," council chairman Joe Capodiferro said before the meeting adjourned at 9:51 p.m.
