Farmington Valley Co-Op Moves Up In Hockey Poll

The high-scoring Generals remain the only Division II team ranked in the state's top 10.

FARMINGTON VALLEY, CT — The high-scoring co-op boys ice hockey team consisting of Farmington, Avon, Windsor and Lewis Mills high schools improved its standing in the eyes of voters in the weekly poll of coaches and media members.

Riding a seven-game winning streak, Farmington Valley (11-1) moved up a notch to eighth in the most recent balloting. The Generals travel to South Windsor Saturday at 5 p.m.

In another unanimous vote, Fairfield Prep (12-0) was the top choice on all 15 ballots.

Here are the top 10, plus all other programs receiving votes, with records through Jan. 31:

  2. Ridgefield (8-2)
  3. Notre Dame-West Haven (8-5)
  4. Xavier (10-4)
  5. Greenwich (9-2)
  6. Hamden (7-5)
  7. New Fairfield/Immaculate (7-2-2)
  8. Farmington Valley (11-1)
  9. Notre Dame-Fairfield (8-4)
  10. Northwest Catholic (6-5-1)

Also receiving votes: Watertown/Pomperaug (9-1-1), Guilford (10-2), New Canaan (5-7).
