FARMINGTON VALLEY DANCE & MUSIC BRINGS THE GIFT OF DANCE TO CHILDREN AROUND THE WORLD.

Farmington, CT

Farmington Valley Dance & Music (FVDM) is a local dance studio that has been operating for 24 years. The studio believes in the importance of giving back and is partnering with a 501(c)3 organization called Traveling Tutus, Inc. ® to share dance with children that could otherwise not afford it. FVDM is an official partner of the organization, providing the financial support to be able to send dance attire around the world. Jeff & Lindsey Sepa, the Directors at FVDM said that they love the work that Traveling Tutus is doing throughout the world and are honored to be a part of their mission to help spread happiness to children through the gift of dance.

Traveling Tutus believes unneeded costumes and dance attire are a precious resource that can be repurposed to bring joy to children all around the world. Through collecting and distributing these no longer needed items, Traveling Tutus helps children all over the world experience one of life's greatest joys, dance.

As any dancer, dance parent, instructor, or friend of the arts knows, dance can be used to instill confidence, give joy, and foster self-expression. A recital costume that was used once and then tucked into the back corner of a closet can do so more much good if given the chance.

“Traveling Tutus started out of a desire to see my own personal dance costumes go to a better cause. At the time I had just graduated high school and I had no idea just how big it would become. Through the years, it has been amazing to witness the support of thousands of dance studios, businesses, and dancers around the country. Traveling Tutus would not be what it is today without our generous partners that support us financially and through the gift of new and gently used costumes. It is truly a team effort! I love knowing that we are not only providing dancers a place to recycle their beloved costumes but also giving joy to so many little ones around the world. I am honored to get to be a connector between the two!" says Jenna Fleetwood, President/Founder of Traveling Tutus.
