Farmington Valley Ends Regular Season In Hockey Top 10

The Generals will be the top seed in the Division II state tournament.

FARMINGTON VALLEY, CT — An outstanding regular season ended with the Farmington Valley ice hockey co-op team firmly entrenched in the state's top 10.

In the final regular season poll of coaches and media members, the Generals (17-2-1) ranked eighth. The co-op comprised of players from Farmington, Avon, Windsor and Lewis Mills high schools will be the top seed in the Division II state tournament; brackets will be announced Friday.

Fairfield Prep (17-2-1) continued its seasonlong run at the top of the weekly poll.

Here are the top 10, plus all other programs receiving votes, with regular season records:

  1. Fairfield Prep (17-2-1)
  2. Greenwich (18-2)
  3. Ridgefield (16-4)
  4. Xavier (13-7)
  5. Notre Dame-West Haven (12-8)
  6. Hamden (13-7)
  7. New Fairfield/Immaculate (12-4-3)
  8. Farmington Valley (17-2-1)
  9. Northwest Catholic (11-8-1)
  10. Guilford (17-3)

Also receiving votes: Darien (9-10-1), Watertown/Pomperaug (16-3-1), New Canaan (11-9), Notre Dame-Fairfield (9-11), Simsbury (9-10-1).
