Farmington Valley Hockey Keeps Lofty Top 10 Spot

The high-scoring Generals are in the midst of a nine-game winning streak.

FARMINGTON VALLEY, CT — Riding the wave of a nine-game winning streak, the Farmington Valley co-op ice hockey team continues to be ranked among the top 10 programs in Connecticut.

The Generals (13-1), rated eighth in the most recent balloting of coaches and media members, are the top-ranked team in Division II, pulverizing opposing defenses by averaging more than six goals per contest. The team, comprised of players from Farmington, Avon, Windsor and Lewis Mills high schools, travels to Conard Saturday at 1 p.m.

Fairfield Prep (13-0) continues to dominate the poll, earning the top position on all 15 ballots.

  3. Xavier (10-5)
  4. Notre Dame-West Haven (9-5)

  6. Hamden (9-5)
  7. New Fairfield/Immaculate (8-2-2)
  8. Farmington Valley (13-1)
  9. Notre Dame-Fairfield (8-5)
  10. Watertown/Pomperaug (11-1-1)

Also receiving votes: Northwest Catholic (6-7-1), New Canaan (6-8), Simsbury (7-8-1), Conard (8-5).
