Farmington Valley Moves Up In Boys Ice Hockey Poll

The Generals are unbeaten in their last 14 outings.

FARMINGTON VALLEY, CT — A 14-game unbeaten string has helped the Farmington Valley ice hockey co-op move up once again in the latest state rankings of coaches and media members.

The only Division II team rated in the state's top 10, the Generals (17-1-1) are ranked seventh in the most recent balloting with one regular season game remaining. The co-op, consisting of Farmington, Avon, Windsor and Lewis Mills high schools, hosts New Fairfield/Immaculate Saturday at Avon Old Farms at 1 p.m.

Fairfield Prep (16-2-1) maintained its season-long position atop the weekly rankings.

Here are the top 10, plus all other programs receiving votes, with records through Feb. 22:

  2. Greenwich (18-2)
  3. Ridgefield (15-4)
  4. Xavier (13-6)

  6. Hamden (11-6)
  7. Farmington Valley (17-1-1)
  8. New Fairfield/Immaculate (10-3-3)
  9. New Canaan (11-9)
  10. Notre Dame-Fairfield (8-9)

Also receiving votes: Darien (8-10-1), Watertown/Pomperaug (13-3-1), Northwest Catholic (9-8-1), Guilford (16-3), Simsbury (9-9-1).
