Farmington Valley Remains in Boys Hockey Top 10

The Generals opened the season by winning six of their first seven contests.

FARMINGTON-AVON-WINDSOR-BURLINGTON, CT — The four school co-op boys ice hockey team comprised of Farmington, Avon, Windsor and Lewis Mills high schools dropped two spots in the latest weekly poll of coaches and media members, but remained the only Division II team to claim a spot in the top 10.

The Generals (6-1) posted big victories Saturday and Wednesday, a week after suffering its only blemish in a 6-4 defeat to Division I power Northwest Catholic. Farmington Valley has just one game scheduled in teh next nine days, traveling to Simsbury Saturday at 8 p.m.

Fairfield Prep (8-0) maintained its stronghold at the top of the rankings, garnering 15 of 16 first-place votes. Greenwich (5-0) also snagged first place on one ballot.

Here are the top 10, as well as all other programs receiving votes, with records through Jan. 10.

Also receiving votes: Darien (2-6), New Canaan (2-4), Watertown/Pomperaug (5-1-1), Guilford (5-1), Simsbury (3-4).
