Farmington's Fall Leaf Collection Has Begun

Town officials warn that the dry conditions are creating leaf collection challenges.

Town of Farmington

FARMINGTON, CT — The fall 2024 leaf collection started this week, with the collection of all the town’s public streets expected to be completed at least twice, weather permitting.

This year, however, town officials said curbside leaf collection is facing challenges due to the ongoing drought and lack of rainfall.

Even though all truck leaf boxes are fitted with mesh screens, the collected dry leaves produce a significant amount of small debris and dust that escapes from the top of the trucks.

As a result, town crews are doing their best to minimize the leaf dust and debris, but the ongoing drought conditions are posing significant challenges for a clean pick-up.
