Farmington's New Top Cop To Be Sworn In
New Farmington Police Department Chief Colin F. Ryan will be sworn in Wednesday evening. The public is invited.

FARMINGTON, CT — A new era in local law enforcement officials starts Wednesday, when the town is is expected to swear in the Farmington Police Department's next chief.
And the public is invited to attend.
Town officials will swear in veteran law enforcer Colin F. Ryan as the new Farmington police chief at a special swearing in ceremony on Wednesday.

It will take place at 6 p.m. in The Yates Room, which is located in the Farmington Police Department, 319 New Britain Ave., Unionville (a section of Farmington).
Earlier this month, Farmington Town Manager Kathleen Blonski announced Ryan's hiring to the Farmington Town Council.

He is expected to officially visit with the council at the July 12 meeting.
Ryan replaces Paul J. Melanson, who took the police chief's position in Avon. Melanson starts in Avon on July 2.
Ryan has worked for the Town of Farmington since 1999, when he was a police officer. Since 2017, he has been a captain in the department.
