FARMINGTON, CT — The First Church of Christ in Unionville has installed the Rev. Dr. Sandra Olsen as its new settled pastor.

Olsen had been serving the First Church of Christ, Congregational for four-and-a-half years, but was installed as the permanent minister on March 13.

Before coming to Unionville, Olsen served at Center Church on the Green in New Haven and The First Church of Christ in Middletown for 14 years. She came to Middletown from Long Island, where she served a church there for eight years as well as working as a hospital chaplain in a few large medical centers.

"I love the human story with all its drama and comedy and am deeply engaged by the big questions of life, which is what theology is all about," Olsen said. "We human beings want to know why, and though there are few definitive answers, we still wonder and ponder. So much of life is filled with deep mystery and learning to live with the mystery and the ambiguity life presents is what we human beings are called to do."

Olsen was ordained in 1983 in Belmont, MA, as a Unitarian Universalist Minister, but changed her standing to the United Church of Christ in 1990.
