Free Jazz Concert Slated At Farmington Library This Weekend

FARMINGTON, CT — Folks and families looking for a toe-tapping good time can head to the local library this weekend.
The Green Jazz Band will perform Sunday afternoon, March 15, at the Farmington Library as part of the library’s Garmany Music Series, bringing a mix of jazz standards, bossa nova, and blues-influenced music to local audiences.
The concert is scheduled from 2 to 3:15 p.m. in the library’s Jay Johnston Community Room, 6 Monteith Drive.

The event is open to all ages, though advance registration is required and closes at 2 p.m. the day of the program.
Based in the Greater Hartford area, the ensemble is known for energetic performances and creative arrangements that reinterpret classic jazz repertoire.

The group’s set lists typically draw from the Great American Songbook, along with rhythmic bossa nova selections and jazz-inspired interpretations of blues and popular music.
The band has appeared at several regional venues and events, including programs at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, such as the Festival of Trees and the Jazz Brunch series.
Other performances have included Earthstock Connecticut, the Collinsville HOT Festival, and concerts at the Gershon Fox Ballroom and the Society Room of Hartford.
The group has also performed outside Connecticut, including a main stage appearance at the Lewiston Jazz Festival.
Library officials say the concert is intended to offer a lively and accessible introduction to jazz for both longtime fans and newcomers to Farmington
