Update: Gas Leak Stopped At Assisted Living Facility

Farmington police say there is no danger to the area, but folks should still avoid scene because emergency services are still there.

FARMINGTON, CT — Local police are warning folks to still avoid the New Horizons Village assisted living facility for a gas main break, though they have said the leak has been stopped.

Farmington police issued the first alert just after 10:20 a.m. Thursday regarding the 1 Bliss Memorial Road facility, according to the department's Twitter feed.

A few minutes after the initial alert, police said in another alert that the "gas leak has been stopped" and "there is no immediate hazard."

However, "crews are still on scene and the public may still want to avoid the area," police said via Twitter.

New Horizons Village serves 101 adults with physical disabilities, according to the complex's website.
