Grant Sheely Memorial Golf Classic
Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Farmington Country Club.
The 2nd Annual Grant Sheely Memorial Golf Classic is being held on Monday July 16 at Farmington Country Club. Obviously we are looking for as many golfers as we can get to participate, along with sponsorship opportunities, silent auction items and/or cash donations. Grant was a 35-year Physical Education teacher at Noah Wallace Elementary School in Farmington prior to his untimely passing in October of 2015.
In 2016 is family established the Grant Sheely Memorial Scholarship in honor of his memory. Each year, a $1,000 scholarship is awarded to two deserving Farmington High School (FHS) seniors who are pursuing a career in elementary education or a particular vocation, certificate or license program. We (the golf committee), his friends, former teammates, co-workers and family established the Grant Sheely Memorial Golf Classic as a means to raise money for the Scholarship Fund going forward. The scholarships for 2018 were given to the following FHS seniors: Lillian Mastrogiovanni, who is interested in being a special education teacher or a speech pathologist to young children and is attending URI, and Kyle Jones, who is interested in a manufacturing career and plans to attend Housatonic Community College.

We are hoping that you will participate in a round of golf, be a sponsor, donate items for the silent auction and/or just make a cash contribution to this worthy cause. Please send an email to the committee at grantgolf@sbcglobal.net and we will forward you the brochure, which includes the schedule of events (what the day and evening includes), the golfer registration form and indicates the various sponsorship opportunities that are available. Or if you have any questions, please call Brian Harvey at 860-673-1243. In addition, the IRS has recently granted a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) tax exempt status to the Grant Sheely Memorial Golf Classic. Consequently, all donations are tax deductible following the proper IRS regulations.
