Half Million Dollar Bond Set in Farmington Assault

A family violence situation resulted in the arrest of a local man Thursday night.

FARMINGTON, CT — A bloody family violence situation resulted in the arrest of a Farmington man Thursday night who is being held in lieu of a half million dollar bond.

Farmington police responded a 911 call at 67 Sunset Terrace at approximately 9:30 p.m. When the first officers arrived on scene, they located a man visibly upset and covered in blood. He admitted to punching the victim to make her stop talking and was detained while officers located the 75-year-old female victim lying on a mattress in the basement. The victim had been severely beaten, Lt. Patrick Buckley said.

The victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital with critical injuries. Her identity is not being disclosed, as this was a family violence crime, Buckley said.

Richard Skenderian, 53, was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree assault of an elderly person and first-degree abuse of persons. He was scheduled to be arraigned in court Friday morning.

Farmington detectives are currently processing the scene, and the investigation is ongoing, Buckley said.
