Historic Farmington House Being Dismantled, Yet Preserved

The Phinehas Lewis House on Route 4 had originally been slated for total demolition, but the pieces will now be preserved and saved.

FARMINGTON, CT - A historic building in the heart of Farmington is being taken apart for preservation, rather than being demolished as originally planned, the Hartford Courant reported.

The Phinehas Lewis House on Route 4, which dates back to the late 18th century, is carefully being taken down to make way for a Berkshire Bank branch.

Thanks to the efforts of the Farmington Historical Society and a group called Preservation Now, each piece of the home will be preserved for possible future re-assembly.
