Iconic Lunch Counters Of Farmington Featured At Unionville Museum
Famed restaurants past and present are part of a new exhibit at the Unionville Library.

FARMINGTON, CT — Farmington's famed lunch counters from years past are the subject of an upcoming exhibit at the Unionville Museum.
The exhibit is titled "Soda Fountains, Luncheonettes & More – Unionville Restaurants from the 1800s to 2021." Int is slated to open Sunday will be open on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. through Nov. 20.
One of the featured culinary icons is the Green Picket Restaurant, which was located on Farmington Avenue on Brooks Common, across from today's Stop & Shop Plaza and served residents from the 1920s through the 1950s.

The display also pays tribute to modern-day restaurants.

It was founded in 1984 and is housed in a historic Carnegie Library building in downtown Unionville owned by the town of Farmington.
The museum houses more than 10,000 photographs and historical items used in exhibits, for special events, and for presentations to local community groups.
The Museum is supported by a wide range of individuals, businesses and civic organizations. It relies on membership dues, bequests, grants, and fundraisers to stage exhibits, offer special events and preserve its valuable collection.
