It’s Good to Get Out Celebrates its Second Anniversary

A lively group of friends enjoyed a lovely lunch at the historic Red Lion Inn in picturesque Stockbridge, Massachusetts, followed by a visit to the Norman Rockwell Museum. And next month they’ll go somewhere else interesting and have another fun day out. It’s Good to Get Out is a program of Services for the Elderly of Farmington. There are 18 women and five drivers. The women have created new friendships with each other while visiting interesting places, mostly in Connecticut. Marcie Shepard, a volunteer and board member with Service for the Elderly, started the group two years ago in honor of her parents, Edith and Bob Shepard. When her father could no longer drive, it became very clear to Marcie how much the elderly need to get out, and more important still, need to continue having fun. “It’s good to get out, have fun, be with friendly people, and see new things,” said Marcie. “New friends are welcome to join in.” For more information, contact Marcie Shepard at marcieshepard@sbcglobal.net or (860) 678-8788.
