Judge Evelyn Daly Appointed Acting Judge of the Hartford Probate Court

Judge Evelyn Daly will also continue to conduct the business of the Farmington-Burlington Probate Court in the interim.

Judge Evelyn M. Daly of the Farmington-Burlington Probate Court has been appointed acting judge at the Hartford Probate Court following the resignation of Hartford Judge Robert K. Killian, Jr.

“I am pleased to be able to serve the residents of Hartford during this period,” said Judge Daly, who will also continue to oversee the Farmington-Burlington court. She will serve at the Hartford court though the Nov. 3 general election, when voters will elect a new judge in Hartford. “My approach at the Hartford court has been to quickly determine, with court staff and the other judges who are also assisting, how to handle matters in a way that is seamless for the individuals and families who need our services.”

Judge Daly is one of six area judges handling the business of the court. In addition to hearing cases, she is responsible for the administrative oversight of court operations. Earlier this year, Chief Justice Chase T. Rogers appointed Judge Daly as a special assignment probate judge, which makes her eligible for the role.

“Judge Daly’s experience in the courtroom and her administrative skills make her perfect for spearheading the duties in Hartford,” Probate Court Administrator Paul J. Knierim said. “Her willingness to serve is exemplary, and thanks to her and the other judges who are assisting, the Hartford court has been able to process cases without interruption.”

Judge Daly was first elected in 2006 as judge of the Farmington Probate Court, now the Farmington-Burlington Probate Court. She serves on the Probate Assembly’s executive, legislative and ethics committees. She has been an attorney for more than 30 years and is licensed to practice law in Connecticut, Massachusetts and the U.S. District Court 1st Circuit.
