The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
I believe that the biggest issue the Town Council is tasked with by residents of Farmington is that we continue to offer excellent town services and a first-class education to our children while maintaining a tax rate that is one of the lowest in central Connecticut. Accomplishing that requires strong leadership and budgetary discipline and a clear vision for what we want Farmington’s future to be. For years Republican leadership has provided our town with a path to success. I hope to further that legacy with my service on the Town Council.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
These are volunteer positions and everyone running will do what they feel is best for the town. The commitment required to attend meetings, be informed on topics and have an opinion that you will be held accountable for is quite large and is a service that is vital to the town's continued success. So, to anyone else running for Town Council or any other office, Thank You! My strengths are that I have a proven track record of running a successful business. I understand what it means to have budgetary discipline, and I am comfortable collaborating with those I disagree with to come to a compromise that works for all. I have worked in town government for a few years now and I have first-hand experience talking to my neighbors about issues that are of concern to them. I am used to working long hours and staying until the job is done right. I believe that it is important for members of our community to take active roles in our town’s future. I am dedicated to our town and I am willing to work hard for Farmington.
Accomplishments:
As a small business owner with a restaurant that has been in business for 11 years (Mondo of Middletown, CT) I understand how to operate a budget and work within a community to build something great. I am a graduate of CCSU’s business school and a 2001 FHS graduate. I am a former Realtor and I currently serve on the Farmington Town Planning and Zoning Commission and as Justice of the Peace. Beyond that I am a 4th generation lifelong resident of Farmington’s second district. I have a really good feel for how our town works, and an understanding of what has made it great for so long. I am ready to do the work to help Farmington continue to be prosperous.
Other issues:
I share the same concerns as other residents. I know that in town traffic is a major concern, I agree with that and believe that alleviating traffic where possible should be a priority with any new building project we take on. I know that maintaining our low tax rate relative to other communities is important to residents, it is to me as well. I know residents would agree that having excellent schools for our children to attend is vital to our towns continued success, as a father of two young kids that is extremely important to me. Lastly, I believe keeping a "small town" feel is very important, and particularly in the second district where I know there are concerns about developments in Unionville Center and other areas.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
Working as a Realtor, as a member of the Town Planning and Zoning Commission and a resident for thirty-plus years, I have seen the town's buildings, roads and walkways continue to evolve. I understand that that evolution will continue, but I would want Farmington voters to know that I will work hard to make sure that the character and values of our town continue to be at the forefront of that evolution. My mother and father were both raised in Farmington, my grandfather and great grandfather each served the town in various roles in government or in the school system. I met my wife in Farmington, I am raising my family in Farmington. Farmington has given me a lot for which I am grateful, which is why I would like to serve on Town Council, and to continue to give back to the town that I love.
