Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 7, in 2026. Many stores, pharmacies and restaurants are expected to remain open, while government offices, schools, libraries and other public services will be closed.
Individual locations may adjust their Labor Day hours, and some holiday schedules may not be finalized until closer to Sept. 7. It's always a good idea to check with the business directly before heading out.

Farmington Town Offices And Public Services
Farmington Town Hall and other municipal offices have historically closed for Labor Day. Residents who need to take care of town business may want to plan their visit before or after Monday, Sept. 7.
Labor Day will not affect Farmington's regular trash and recycling schedule. According to the town's Department of Highway and Grounds, the only holidays that delay collection are Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Schools And Libraries
Farmington Public Schools will be closed for Labor Day. The district’s 2026-27 calendar lists Monday, Sept. 7 as a holiday, one week after the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 31.
Both Farmington Library and Barney Library will also be closed on Monday, Sept. 7, as well as the weekend preceding (Saturday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 6). Additionally, Barney Library is regularly closed on Fridays. Families hoping to visit the library over the long weekend should plan accordingly.
