LETTER: Farmington School Board Needs Liz Fitzsimmons
Letters are strictly the opinion of the author, and do not necessarily reflect the views of Farmington Patch.

I would like to express my strong support for Liz Fitzsimmons, a candidate for the Farmington Board of Education.
Liz and I met four years ago when we got involved in advocating for the town education budget, which at that time had been cut drastically during the town budget process. Even before then, Liz was regularly attending Board of Education and Town Council meetings. As she became active with her children’s school, she relayed important information back to the Parent/Teacher Organization as the Board of Education liaison. She has been an active participant in the town budget process – assessing the various budget drivers each year, attending BOE and Town Council budget workshops, giving feedback to our elected officials, helping people understand the current issues, and increasing voter participation.
I can’t think of too many other people in town who have the same level of knowledge and understanding of the role of the Board of Education. Liz recognizes the importance of investing in the education of all of our town’s students, while remaining responsible to taxpayers. She values transparency and is astute in the ways in which the Board of Education must be responsive to stakeholders. She is passionate about the well-being of our town.

Over the four years since we met, Liz and I have been pleased to see the Farmington school district become better equipped to meet its high standards for teachers and students. If you are a voter who would like to see this forward momentum continue in our schools, then I strongly encourage you to vote for Liz Fitzsimmons for Board of Education.
