Two years ago, I had the distinct honor to run as the Democratic nominee for Town Council Chairman. Alongside Bruce Charette, Beth Kintner, Patti Boye-Williams, Edward Giannaros, and a tremendous slate of democratic nominees, we were eager to take on the challenge of serving our community.

In the weeks following our nomination, I spent countless hours in meetings, knocking on doors, making phone calls, and attending events with my slatemates. In that time, I came to know these people as virtuous, thoughtful, and dedicated members of the community who I eventually became my family.

With the help of our neighbors, our team crafted a vision for Farmington that prioritized civility, accountability, and transparency. The Farmington Democrats made a promise to bring a new breed of leadership to town hall. The Farmington Democrats cultivated an inclusive brand of leadership that fostered innovative ideas while preserving strategic fiscal conservation. In a politically tumultuous time, we asked you to believe in our vision to buck the status quo and ask for more out of your local leaders.

On Election Day of 2017, you unequivocally answered our call: it was time for a change. While I didn’t make the cut, I had the pleasure of watching my slatemates go on and carry out our mission. With the first majority in over 20 years, Bruce, Beth, Patti, and Edward had a real chance to make substantive change; and they certainly delivered. From the high school to the annual budget, the democratic council members took their fiduciary responsibility to the town seriously. I’ve watched them give countless hours of their personal time to research, consult community members, and be there for neighbors in need.

My assessment of the democrats is that they are a group dedicated leaders and pragmatists who put the best interest of Farmington ahead of all else. As these committed leaders continue to bring innovation, diversity, and transparency to the town of Farmington, I encourage all readers to support them their pursuit of a more perfect community.
