LETTER: Vote Demicco as Farmington's State Representative

Opinions expressed are those of the letter writer and do not necessarily reflect the views of Patch Media. Opposing viewpoints are welcomed.

I am writing a letter of political support for State Representative Mike Demicco, and I am not going to talk about issues at a time when America is so deeply divided on issues that we are immobilized at best, violent at worst. I am writing to support Mike Demicco because he is such a good person, and he takes his job more seriously than any other elected official I have ever encountered. In the case of Mike Demicco, I am voting on personhood, not issues.

Mike Demicco’s work ethic, patience, and compassion are unsurpassed. I am an advocate for people with disabilities, and it has been my experience that their issues are often invisible to the abled world and their voices go unheard. Mike Demicco has showed up at 90% of the advocacy events that my small grassroots group has sponsored in Farmington; he listens with respect, and he tries hard to represent the interests of people with disabilities. When he does this for such a numerically small group of voters, it is because it is right, not because it serves his interest.

Mike cares deeply about people, and his integrity is unquestioned. His opponent, on the other hand, was a donor to Responsible Farmington, an ethically questionable political movement that divided the town of Farmington; it even divided his own party. Mike Demicco is a uniter, who listens to his constituents and values their needs.

He is the kind of public servant America needs in a time of deep mistrust and anger.
