Major State Road Reopened In Farmington: UPDATE
Wires were down on the roadway as heavy storms moved through Thursday.

FARMINGTON, CT — Thursday afternoon thunderstorms appeared to have caused havoc on one Farmington roadway as a major state route was closed due to downed utility wires.
The Farmington Police Department issued an alert Thursday evening that Farmington Avenue (Route 4) was closed at Highwood Road due to the wires down on the roaday.
In addition, Route 4 was also closed between Plainville Avenue (Route 177) and Coppermine Road.

Farmington police said the roadway was fully reopened to traffic at 7:50 p.m.

Roads closed due to down wires: Farmington Ave (Rt. 4) is closed at Highwood Rd. Traffic is being detoured along West Avon Rd (Rt. 167) and Brickyard Rd. New Britain Ave is also closed between Plainville Ave (Rt. 177) and Coppermine Rd. No ETA yet on when they will reopen.
