Man Who Died At Farmington Golf Course Was Veteran Groundskeeper: FPD

FARMINGTON, CT — Authorities Saturday released more details on Friday's death of a man at a local golf course, identifying the victim as an 86-year-old longtime groundskeeper at the course.

According to the Farmington Police Department, the man suffered a medical emergency on a golf cart, forcing the cart to drive into the water of a pond on the site.

Police said, at about 1:45 p.m. Friday, the FPD was called for a report of a male party down in a small body of water at the Tunxis Country Club golf course, 87 Town Farm Road, Farmington.

Officers as well as Farmington firefighters and paramedics attempted resuscitative efforts, but the mad was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the man was an 86-year-old resident of Plainville, who was a longtime groundskeeper at the golf course.

"Preliminary information indicates that he had a medical emergency on a golf cart and subsequently drove into the water," the FPD said in a statement Saturday. "There are currently no indications that anything criminal occurred."

Police said Farmington detectives and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are investigating the incident.
