WEST HARTFORD – It’s been a year since Maximum Beverage opened its doors in the Marshalls Plaza at Bishops Corner. To mark the occasion, a week-long series of events will take place at the 10,000-square-foot high-tech liquor store. The first event on Monday, April 29 from 5-7 p.m. is a beer tasting featuring hard-to-find brands. ESPN's Colin Cowherd will attend to discuss his favorite beers and talk sports. Next up on Tuesday, April 30 from 4-7 p.m. will be a tasting of high-end wines. Wednesday, May 1 brings an educational seminar and tasting event featuring award-winning Hotel California Tequila and its three varieties – Blanco, Anejo and Reposado. There are two sessions, 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Reservations are required as space is limited. On Thursday, May 2 at 6:30 p.m. the store will host a Riedel glass seminar. The theme will be, “Does the glass used make the wine taste better?” Reservations are required and a fee of $35 will be charged. Participants will enjoy a wine tasting and receive glassware. The series concludes with educational wine tastings featuring guest speakers on Friday, May 3 from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, May 4 from 2-5 p.m. Events won’t stop there, however. Each week, free wine tastings are offered from noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday. Maximum Beverage is located at 333 North Main St., West Hartford. Parking is available in both the front lot and new rear lot, where there’s an elevator to reach the upper level.
