Memorial Day 2026 In Farmington: Parade Information, Closings Announced
Memorial Day is on Monday, May 25, with several towns hosting parades honoring those who died in the line of duty.
FARMINGTON, CT — The Town of Farmington will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25, beginning at 10 a.m. in Farmington Village.
Town officials said this year’s parade will follow Main Street and conclude with a commemorative ceremony at Riverside Cemetery honoring military service members who died while serving the United States.
According to the town, the parade route will travel along Farmington Avenue, Main Street, Maple Street, and Garden Street before ending at the cemetery.

Farmington alternates the parade location each year between Farmington Village and Unionville.
Officials said the event is expected to return to Unionville in 2027, weather permitting.

Veterans from all military backgrounds are encouraged to participate in the parade.

Memorial Day honors military service members who died while serving in the United States armed forces.
The holiday originated after the Civil War as “Decoration Day” and became a federal holiday in 1971.

Holiday closings, impacts
Meanwhile, Farmington's town offices and schools will be closed Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.
Regular hours of operation will resume on Tuesday, May 26, at 8:30 a.m.
For Farmington residents who have trash and recycling collection by the town's contractor (Waste Material Trucking Co.), there will be no change in the regular collection day.
"Residents are encouraged to join the community for the Farmington Memorial Day Parade beginning at 10 a.m. on Main Street in Farmington, followed by a ceremony at Riverside Cemetery honoring those who served and remembering those we lost," wrote the town in an announcement.
