The pickleball courts first opened informally last September while construction on the splash pad and supporting facilities continued.

The complex now includes eight pickleball courts, a splash pad, clubhouse, driving range, pavilion rental space, and the Westwoods Golf Course.

According to town information, courts No. 1 through No. 4 are available on a first-come, first-served basis, while courts No. 5 through No. 8 may be reserved between June 1 and Aug. 31 through the Farmington Recreation Department website.

Reservation fees are $15 per hour for residents and $25 per hour for non-residents. Officials said reservations must be made at least 48 hours in advance, with a limit of two reservations per transaction.

The splash pad is scheduled to operate daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The pickleball courts are open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. until sunset and Sundays from 9 a.m. until sunset.

The Farmington Plan and Zoning Commission unanimously approved plans for the project following a public hearing on April 8, 2024.

Town officials said the splash pad includes interactive water features such as sprayers and sprinklers designed for children and families during the summer months.

Pickleball, one of the nation’s fastest-growing recreational sports, combines elements of tennis and paddle sports and is played on a smaller court using paddles and lightweight plastic balls.
