North Central CT Law Firm Megamerger Announced

The new firm will have offices in Granby, Avon, Farmington, and Suffield.

GRANBY/AVON/FARMINGTON/SUFFIELD, CT — Two prominent law firms in central Connecticut have merged to form one legal firm based in four separate towns.

Attorneys for both firms announced this week the creation of Murphy, Laudati, Kiel & Alfano, which is expected to provide legal services in north central Connecticut.

The new firm includes the former law firms of Murphy, Laudati, Kiel & Rattigan and Alfano & Flynn.

It will operate from offices in Granby, Avon, Farmington and Suffield.

According to an announcement, the two prior firms had a combined history of service in the greater Hartford region since 1948.

“My father, Charles Alfano Sr., founded the original Alfano law firm in Hartford, which has operated as Alfano & Flynn for the past 25 years,” Charles Alfano, Jr. said. “I am proud to continue to provide the highest quality services.”

“Every one of our partners has more than 30 years of experience, and we have been colleagues for almost as long,” John Laudati said. “We’re pleased to be able to put our firms together to provide even more services for individuals, families and businesses facing legal challenges.”

Lawrence J. Kiel said members of the firm have strong commitments and involvement in the communities they serve.

“MLK&A attorneys live and work in north central Connecticut and we know our communities. Our experience and community-based focus means we can provide the best possible legal services to our clients,” Kiel said.

The firm's practice areas include commercial/business law, construction law, criminal law, estate planning, family law mediation, collaborative divorce, probate settlement and litigation, personal injury and real estate law.

The firm also includes attorneys Margaret Fogerty Rattigan, Steven M. Zelman, Rachel Kittredge Shipman and Jean E. Silverio.

Neil Murphy, Jr., who received gubernatorial and judicial appointments for his litigation skills, is retired.
