Nurse Charged With Sexual Assault In Farmington
A nurse has been charged with sexual assault for actions during an office visit, Farmington police said.

FARMINGTON, CT — A nurse has been charged with fourth-degree sexual assault for inappropriate behavior during a medical visit, police said.
The Farmington Police Department Monday announced the warrant arrest of 46-year-old local resident Steven Lamoureux, identified in a report as an advanced practice registered nurse. Lamoureux was released on a $100,000 bond, police said.
Farmington detectives began investigating Lamoureux after receiving a complaint on July 19, police said. He is accused of performing what is being termed "relaxation technique" on a patient during an office visit in Farmington, an arrest report indicates.

"The act that APRN Lamoureux performed was not in accordance with standard medical care and was outside the scope of his medical license and care," police said in a statement accompanying the arrest.
Police said they are still investigating the case and are asking that anyone who may have been "subjected to inappropriate medical care" by Lamoureux, to contact detectives at 860-675-2400.

According to The Free Medical Dictionary, relaxation technique can refer to any of a number of techniques for relaxing the mind and/or muscles. Mostrelaxation techniques "share the need for a quiet environment with few distractions, the limiting of attention to an object, phrase or image, a passive attitude of letting go, a comfortable position and loose clothing." Relaxation techniques are used in cognitive-behavioral therapy to teach patients new ways of coping with stressful situations, according to the definition.
