FARMINGTON, CT — Work to transform the old Farmington High School into the new Farmington Town Hall is beginning in earnest this week.

According to the 1928 Building Committee, the transformation is expected to begin this week, with a year of work expected before there's a new town hall next year.

"The 1928 Building Project remains on schedule and is slated to be completed in January 2026," wrote the committee in a statement issued Monday.

The committee said KBE Building Corp. (the general contractor) reported that renovation work will begin the week of February 3rd, representing a milestone in the project.

Meanwhile, a "Buy-a-Brick Fundraiser" connected to the project is still active and those interested in helping can visit www.1928building.org/buy-a-brick for more information.

For years, a new town hall has been discussed in conjunction with the new high school.

In May 2023, voters said "yes" to a $16 million project to take the old "1928" section of the former FHS and renovate it into a brand new Farmington Town Hall.

Last March, the Farmington Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a special permit application by the town to renovate the "1928 Building" — located at 10 Monteith Drive.

The "1928 Building" is so-named because of the year it was built and it is the only portion of the existing Farmington High School that will still stand once the rest of the site is demolished.
