FARMINGTON, CT — The 2026 election is heating up in Connecticut, and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Eyes are primarily focused on the Connecticut gubernatorial election, but every state representative and senate seat is up for grabs. All five of Connecticut's congressional seats are up for grabs as well.

Democrats currently hold majorities in both chambers.

Republican Gary Palumbo is challenging state Rep. Mike DeMicco, D-Farmington, for the 21st State House District seat.

The 21st State House District is comprised of most of Farmington, the lone town in the district.

To represent Farmington, lower taxes, local control of zoning

What do you believe is the No. 1 issue facing Connecticut, and how do you plan to address it?
Affordability for seniors and veterans. I plan to address it by using my 42 years of business experience and knowledge of local politics.

Energy costs have been soaring in Connecticut. What are your plans to help address this issue?
Reduce subsidies and fees included in electric bills and become more transparent about the issues behind the costs.

Affordability has been a major topic across the country and here in Connecticut. How do you plan to address this issue?
Work hard to expose the costs that are driving the increases.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Forty-two years of running a small business, experience from two terms on Town Council, and experience on other local boards.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I will work for the residents of Farmington and the issues that are important to them.
