Pharmaceutical Distributor Moving Out of Farmington

An official plant closing notice was filed last week with the Connecticut Department of Labor.

FARMINGTON, CT — McKesson Corp, a leading pharmaceutical distributor, has officially filed a plant closure notice with the Connecticut Department of Labor, indicating it will soon be vacating its Farmington location at 1690 New Britain Avenue, resulting in the loss of 72 jobs.

The notice, filed with the department's Rapid Response Unit on Nov. 4, indicates the company "will permanently close its entire Farmington, CT office," and that "affected employees were notified of their individual dates of termination" on Sept. 4.

"Erminations will occur in waves, beginning on Jan. 3, 2020 and continuing through May 4, 2020," according to the notice sent by Peter Sloane, senior vice president of government affairs.

Thirteen inside sales representatives will be let go on Jan. 3, and 59 other sales department personnel will be terminated on May 1, according to the notice.

In recent years, the nationwide company had also closed offices in Southington and Rocky Hill.
