The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:

The redevelopment of existing properties will present challenges to the TPZ going forward.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

I have served on the TPZ and other Town commissions since 2010 and and have developed a significant understanding of our zoning regulations and the history of development in Farmington.

Accomplishments:

I am a litigation attorney who has represented municipalities in court including zoning issues. When I served on the Farmington TPZ for eight years I steered the commission to successfully avoid litigation and when appeals of our decisions were filed we were successful in defending those appeals as our decisions were legally correct and in conformance with our rules.

During my prior service on the TPZ I supported changes in the zoning regulations that addressed over-development of residential lots by placing the expansion of residential structures under TPZ review. This will prevent the building of "McMansions" on small residential lots as we have seen in other States such as New York and New Jersey.

Also and during my tenure on the TPZ we created a "floating zone" around the new Jackson Labs facility that will allow Farmington to benefit from the burgeoning genomic industry while protecting the value of neighboring residential zones.

Other issues:

I am a 27 year resident of Farmington and care deeply that our Town has a well reasoned approach to development that preserves the Town's character yet allows us to remain a relevant place to do business.

What else would you like voters to know about you?

Although I have served as the chair of TPZ and I am happy to serve again as an alternate and offer my years of experience to the commission and its newer members.
