Potentially Life-Saving Work Slated At Farmington Highway: State
The state DOT is installing 'wrong-way countermeasures' Tuesday in Farmington to alert motorists and authorities of wrong-way drivers.

FARMINGTON, CT — Starting Tuesday night, May 7, travel on Interstate 84 in Farmington may be a bit cumbersome, but the result could be a safer highway.
The state Department of Transportation is installing wrong-way driving countermeasures on I-84 East and West at Exit 37, as well as on I-84 East and West at Exit 39.
It will begin on Tuesday, May 7, with work taking place from 7 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This is expected to cause some traffic headaches that night, with on and off-ramps being closed to traffic and detours being utilized.
But when complete, the "countermeasures," which are designed to warn motorists they're traveling the wrong way and to alert authorities, should make the highway safer there.
