Primaries 2026: Who's On Farmington's Ballot, What You Need To Know

FARMINGTON, CT — National and state elections are taking place on Nov. 3, but before that big day, the candidate slates must be finalized.

On Tuesday, Aug. 11, Democrats and Republicans will head to the polls for primaries, where registered members of each party will choose who will be on the November ballot.

For example, statewide, Gov. Ned Lamont is being challenged by challenger Josh Elliot for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination, so every town's Democrats will be making that decision.

Other hopefuls will also be on the ballot for both parties, depending on the town.

In Farmington, candidates will be on the primary ballots on Tuesday, Aug. 11, when polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

They are:

For Democratic governor, voters will choose between:

• Ned Lamont, the party-endorsed candidate and two-term incumbent.
• Josh Elliott

For Republican U.S. Representative, 5th Congressional District, GOP voters will choose among:

• Chris Shea, the party-endorsed candidate

• Jonathan De Barros

Under Connecticut primary rules, endorsed candidates are identified on the ballot with an asterisk.

Farmington voters will have the opportunity to cast ballots early or vote on Primary Day in Connecticut's Democratic and Republican primaries on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Early voting will be held from Monday, Aug. 3, through Sunday, Aug. 9, at Farmington Town Hall, 20 Monteith Drive, in the third-floor Training Room. The town noted that this is the new town hall, located in the former Farmington High School (1928 Building), and signs will direct voters to the early voting location.

Early voting hours are:

• Monday, Aug. 3: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Tuesday, Aug. 4: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Wednesday, Aug. 5: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Thursday, Aug. 6: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Friday, Aug. 7: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Saturday, Aug. 8: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Sunday, Aug. 9: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Voters who choose to cast their ballots on Primary Day, Tuesday, Aug. 11, should report to their assigned polling place based on their district and precinct.

Farmington polling places on Aug. 11 are:

• District 1, Precincts 1 and 2: Irving Robbins Middle School, 20 Wolf Pit Road, Farmington
• District 1, Precincts 3 and 4: West Woods Upper Elementary School, 50 Judson Lane, Farmington
• District 2, Precinct 5: Farmington Police Department, 319 New Britain Ave., Unionville
• District 2, Precinct 6: Farmington Community/Senior Center, 321 New Britain Ave., Unionville
• District 2, Precinct 7: Municipal Campus (Library or High School), Monteith Drive, Farmington
