Report of Active Shooter in Farmington "Erroneous": PD

A call to an FBI tip line indicated an active shooter was present at a United Technologies building in Farmington.

FARMINGTON, CT — A report of an active shooter at one of Farmington's largest companies was deemed erroneous by police Wednesday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m., the Farmington Police Department received a call from the Hartford office of the FBI reporting an active shooter with people running out of the building at one of the United Technologies (UTC) properties on Farm Springs Road in Farmington. The call originated from an out-of-state tip line in the Washington, D.C. area, Lt. Patrick Buckley said.

There were no local 911 or police department calls about this incident. Farmington police responded, checked each UTC building and found that the report was erroneous, Buckley said.
