FARMINGTON, CT — With summer storm season in full swing, town officials are reminding residents they can sign up for special emergency alerts from local leaders.

As a result, the town is asking folks to sign up for the Everbridge emergency alert system.

It is the Town of Farmington's communication tool for emergencies and community news.

By signing up for the Emergency and Community Alert Program, residents can receive notifications through multiple channels such as home phones, mobile phones, VoIP, email, and text messages.

"The Emergency Alert Notification System provides critical information during emergencies from local officials to quickly send alerts including road closures and public safety updates," wrote the town.

Included in the system is notifications from the Farmington police and fire departments.
